Fellowship of the Fynn

I have been to Hobbiton and it was fynntastic. It is an hour or so bus ride from the port of Turanga NZ, or as I'm starting to call it New Zed Land. I went in a group of about 12 people one other crew no guests from my ship. After most of the bus trip we drove over some mountains with plenty of sheep on them and the tour guide said aloud look over there and see those single trees popping up in the valley, well there my friends is middle earth. It is a great natural twin to the English country side that Tolkien once wrote about in his writings. We drove down closer and closer only able to see the outside edge of the movie set. Finally we got to the farm and made a few turns losing the real world as we went. After four turns there was almost no world visible other then the fields of Hobbiton. I still hadn't seen a hobbit hole yet and I was very ready to.
"There ahead of us is where Frodo jumps from to chase Gandalf's cart." The guide said.
One more turn and we could see our first hole, it vanished fast, the bus stopped and we were let out.
There was a wall of hedges and I could see the sign welcoming us officially.
"Who wants to lead the way..." He asked and uhm yea I jumped on the front of the line. We walked where Gandalf and Frodo rode in the cart past the gardens where the children come out. Up the path where Gandalf set off his fireworks. I got as close as I could to as many Hobbit holes as I could. This one was the wood cutter, this one owned a horse, the other one was a gourd painter. Each had its own quirks and details.
We walked up to the frog pond, passed at least five more Hobbit holes until we could actually go into one.
We went into three holes and were told they plan on making them able to sleep in one day, wouldn't that be sweet, they also have weddings here often, yea add that to the list of things to do. Offer up a destination wedding of Hobbiton. Finally we came to the house.... That is right Bilbo's house. The door was open, the party sign was up, we however were not allowed in because they might come back to film soon so in a way I was on a working movie set... sweet add it to my resume. We walked down where the Wraith rode and down the the Green Dragon Tavern where they gave us a free drink I had the Pale Ale and a Mouse Trap sandwich by the roaring fire place. Then we had to leave our time was up... Pictures will be up soon...

Happy Turkey Day

It is a turn around day and an over night here in Sydney so after Karaoke is all done me some of my friends are going out and about to find some turkey and stuffing, fingers crossed. We may revisit Steamtank which is a speak easy down George Street this is one of those places you have to walk down a sketchy alley to get to but when you find it you find a gem of the city. this place is stuck in the 1920's and is fabulous I will take pictures tonight and send them. I know i have not blogged in forever, that is because we are a bit short staffed lately which is funny because we are gettin way better comments with less staff... don't tell that to the company, we have to work our butts off. It is all still in fun for more then ninety percent of it being that we added x box olmpics and I tend to be the host. I do have to run, am loving Sydney soon enough I'll post my blog about Hobbiton, soon I promise, have some stuffing for me.... I am thankful for my loving jelous family, and friends that even though I can't call and talk to them enough still love me and are waiting for my return... also I hope the Kuzma's have left a seat open somewhere in the house cause I will be there in spirit still not understanding a single word of Polish.
